Remember when I said a while back that I made a promise to the old dog Nana? I promised her she had a home until the day she died.
The weekend of Feb. 23rd, my husband, in an effort to save the baby from watching Nana die, gave her to a friend of The Boy. He was to take care of her until her death and put her down if she was suffering. I felt bad that I wouldn’t be keeping my promise to her, but I also did not want to go through the days of mourning Little Miss would put us through when Nana finally drew her last breathe. Selfish, I know. Well, the good Lord and the old dog decided I WOULD be keeping my promise.
The young man who took Nana, let her have the run of the yard. Guess who went MIA and not for the first time! Give yourself a cookie if you said Nana! I had asked not to be told when Nana was put down, he assumed I would not want to know if she came up missing. This is where the story gets good……
Yesterday was a warm, sunny day and Red and her husband, the Ass, decided to go out for a boat ride and they ask Little Miss to go. They went to the boat launch and guess who was laying next to the river bank… Give yourself another cookie if you said Nana. I put this together from the excited phone call my hubby got…..
Hello.
What?
Who?
Nana?!
Did she just walk up to you?
Where?
I guess.
Bring her home.
Bye.
Shit! Guess who they found!!!!
Apparently, the Ass pulled up and the kids got out of the truck to run around like wild children, while he put the boat in the river. And when Little Miss got out of the truck, Nana walked up to her. Just walked up to her!!!! What are the odds that this old dog made a 15 mile trip to just show up at the exact time that Little Miss goes out with Red for a boat ride and she shows up at the very place the Ass decides to put in?! And did I mention that this is not the usual place he puts in? Well its not! He just decided not to go to his normal place, this was a little closer! She went in the boat with them, lest she might run away if left on the river bank.
She is HOME again! This time she will be here until she draws her last breathe! I didn’t have to say it, Hubby said it for me. She is suppose to be here! She came home and run right to the pen to be let in. She put the other 2 dogs, in the pen, in their rightful place. Out of HER dog house! She ate a good supper and went in the dog house to get a safe nights sleep. Probably the first safe night in a week. She looks skinny and bony, but she is smiling up a storm!
I thought I would share this amazing story with you.
Nana coming home got Little Miss to thinking about Nana dying. I spent over an hour talking to her about animals not living as long as people and how God had brought Nana back to us and how I hoped it wasn’t just to die, but if she did, we knew she was back where she wanted to be and safe and with people who loved her. From Nana, she went on to Misty. Misty’s spine has humped up in the center of her back and it is rather sore and I worry that at almost 8, Misty is getting short on her time too. Boxers have a life expectancy of about 10 years, but that’s not a given. She is indoors which usually extends their life, but that doesn’t say she isn’t going to get arthritis and such. She is getting rather stiff in the mornings. We all are. We are getting older. Little Miss was having a bad night and she was in a thinking mood. We hit all the highlights, animals dying, people dying and the great grandparents she never got to meet. She even hit on when she dies. Who would meet her there and would she know them. Pretty deep for an 8 year old. I was hurting and exhausted, but I think I gave her the right answers. I hope I didn’t warp her for life. I know what I believe and what I was always taught, but she wanted a lot of answers I had trouble coming up with. I was honest with her and told her I didn’t know all the answers.
To be quite honest, I was raised in a christian home, but we didn’t attend church. Momma taught us in her words with some help from the bible. I have done the same thing. She does go to church with My mom and dad. Daddy started church about 2 1/2 years ago. He was taking an elderly friend to church every other Sunday and he liked the preacher and the people, so they started going even on the Sundays that they didn’t have to take Jack. Now they are there about every time the doors are open and they are involved in a lot of activities. Little Miss enjoys going, but not every week. We as a family have been unable to find a church that “fits” us. Most of the churches around are somewhat “cliquey”. And not going there since birth, we are definitely not in the “in” group. We are looking for the right church for us and I know we will find the one that we belong with. For now I am content with studying on my own.
The local Jehovah Witness’ group has decided to teach me. They are a nice couple but I really don’t want to get started with weekly study sessions in my home. I have tried my best to be nice, but I am now coming into hiding from them. I expressed to them that though I appreciated them coming and sharing with me, but I always have and would continue to worship with my family. Thank you very much. I was nice! They continue to come every Friday morning. This past Friday, I made a mad dash ( well as much of a mad dash that I could manage) into the hallway and away from the door. The dogs barked and carried on, but the whole time the elderly gentleman, who leads this small group, kept talking to me through the door as if he knew that I was in hiding. I guess they are used to this. I have all but cussed them out and threatened them with a gun. And they just keep coming back. Oh well, I can continue hiding out as long as they continue to ignore my wishes that they stop coming here. I am not the first nor will I be the last.
Well, this post got a little more religious than I had intended. I guess I had a few issues to work out too.
I have one more thing to share before I run along and accomplish something in this house today. Somebody is *framing* the puppy. Saturday night we put Daisy in the pen as we always do before we went to bed. There was not a spot of pee in the hall. Upon getting up Sunday morning, we found 2 spots of pee in the hall right in front of our bedroom door. This morning I found a pile of POO in the utility room. I think it is the cat, hubby thinks it is Bella. We can’t catch the culprit! But somebody is definitely not happy about the puppy being in the house and is trying to get her banned from the house. She spent the last 2 days outside playing. She has slept so soundly. Saturday, I was cleaning dust off the fan blades and the dust fell on her and she never moved, I dusted her and it didn’t wake her up. And this was just a nap! Come night she goes in to a coma! I guess I should go….. As Always…….
HAVE A GREAT DAY AND THANKS FOR VISITING!!!!!
