How was your weekend? Mine went OK I guess, It wasn’t overly eventful.
Friday Little Miss stayed the night with Grandma. Funny, she didn’t mention it. She said Granddaddy was taking her to the library and she would return my book for me and get me the 4th Twilight book if it was in (her idea not mine.). I told her it was a bit of a ways for Granddaddy to come just to carry her to the library and she said, “Oh, he don’t mind.” When she hadn’t returned in an hour, I called Grandma. Little Miss was over there, spending the night! Thanks for the heads up! So date night was on. We ran into town and picked up Little Miss’ birthday present. SSSHHHH! She thinks we haven’t got it yet. Then home to the computer and reading.
I have finished “Sense and Sensibility”. I went on to a Danielle Steel book and then another romance book (It was a adventure/romance book. Pretty Good.) The last book was the 3rd in a series! Guess who didn’t have the other two! It stood alone, but it would have been nice to read the other two first. I have started on an unsolved mystery one, several stories in one book. I must say it is not a book to read late at night when you are up by yourself! I thought these were OLD crimes, UH, NO. Some are from the late 90s and a couple were not too far away. Kinda creepy to think these sickos are still out there and could be close. *shiver*
The 4th was……well……like any other holiday around here! MIL wanted to control all. So I stayed here and cooked the baked beans my dear BIL asked me to cook. Hubby piddled in the yard, Little Miss came home early (because she thought we were going somewhere) and *SURPRISE* The Boy was home all day. (Course he ain’t going far without a license and his buddies had other plans.) The dinner that was to be between 4 and 5, was eaten at about 3:30. Thank you SIL. It was decided we would do fireworks at Red’s house this year instead of ours. *YAY!! Happy Dance* Somewhere around dark we should be over there, they had another family obligation and would be home by then.
‘Bout 4:30 I got a call from SIL, she was making Strawberry Daiquiris. Only she was having to substitute an ingredient. Her recipe called for Limeade and she had lemonade and lime juice. (to be quite honest, I buy the mix, but to each there own.) She needed assistance making them. Well, if alcohol was involved and I wasn’t having to buy it…… my assistance was a guarantee! So she run over to get me, since hubby and BIL had run off to the beer store for refreshments for them. The daiquiris, if I do say so myself, were DELISH! With the glasses she was using we got 4 drinks out of each blender we made up. We made up 3 blenders before Red got home (They got home early, seems his family is not as entertaining as ours. heh!). Then we moved the party to Red’s. One of the few times I can say…….Thank God we all live on the same road! When we moved the party, we came by and got our dear boy, who apparently had no sober friends to come get him. So we decided, his unsober parents would enjoy his company, with the agreement that he could drink with us, but he couldn’t fight. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love a tipsy mom! The rest of the night was a few fireworks (AWE! Disappointment, not enough bang for the buck!) and several more blenders of Daiquiris. We got home a little after 12 and Little Miss was gracious enough to go to sleep by a little after 1am, so her rather….uh…tipsy mother could crawl into the shower and bed.
There has been much talk of whether mother was drunk. The Boy said I was. Hubby said I had to be because I quit drinking. Little Miss said I must have been, I was nice. *Ain’t she sweet?* I say NO! I quit drinking because they quit making the daiquiris. They kept talking about making more, but nobody’s drunk ass would go in the house and do it. Red and SIL made about, I think, 8 more blenders ( or more, the crew says about 12 more, I doubt that many!). (Red makes hers with more Rum! If the recipe called for 6oz…..SIL put in 6 oz. Red on the other hand, would say that looks like 6oz and then add a bit more for good measure. And she was adding something else to the mix but I haven’t a clue what it was. It had an alcohol content on the side, but I didn’t notice how much. It did add to the taste though.) The Boy accused me of wanting to be like Captain Jack Sparrow, we have been watching the Pirate movies. I still say I was walking pretty much straight and remember everything that was said, so I was a bit tipsy, but nowhere near drunk!
Sunday showed up without a hangover, which I was grateful for. Me and Rum usually don’t agree very well. I like it, but it isn’t very nice the next day. I pretty much sat around and did as little as possible. Everyone seemed to do as little as possible. It has to be the heat.
Then Monday was Monday. Cleaning and washing. Since The Boy’s buddy spent the night on our recliner, I didn’t post. I didn’t feel so well all day, wonder if you can get a delayed hangover? Anyway…….now you know how my weekend went. I was grateful we had no injuries. I seem to get a horrible burn every year, but not this year. Well, I should go. I have Facebook shit to do and plurking and then of course….more washing. Damn, I hate my dryer! Until next time………………..
HAVE A GREAT DAY AND THANKS FOR VISITING!!!!!!!!!!
